Hey i am officially a university student now!! :D I study psychology at NTU which means i’m
going to live in Singapore for four years starting from this August and i’m
trying to recount what has happened since i arrived here.
So i came to Singapore with my parents on July 29, it was
raining that day and we waited for a while eating at killiney road before we
walked to orchard. The next day, we went to NTU to put my stuff to the hall of
residence. My allocated hall, hall 10, is situated at the very top of NTU i
guess. As my room is on the sixth level, sometimes i feel like the king of the
world looking outside. It’s like viewing paris from the top of Eiffel hahaha.
On July 31, I visited the SEA Aquarium. I have soft spots
for ocean, underwater world, fish and other sea creatures, i am so very
fascinated by the whole thing. I don’t really know how to put it, something in
me is triggered every time i have the chance to interact with or watch them.
It’s magical. And also, there is a particular spot in the aquarium that i like
a lot, it’s called the Ocean Dome. The space is somewhat round with 180 degree
panoramic view of the ocean habitat and you can either sit or stand on the
floor. The atmosphere was so calming and i can already imagine myself being
there next time listening to songs or even studying for finals accompanied by
all the sea creatures.
My parents flew back to Medan on August 1, so after sending
them to the airport, my roommate and i kind of explore NTU. As the university
is so very big (like more than 2 hectares), the main mean of transport here is
by bus. On the first days, i was so confused by the system and i didn’t know
when to ride the blue line bus and when to ride the red. But now, i can proudly
say i am already able to differentiate them hahahaha.
NTU in my opinion is a very nice place, it doesn’t take me a
long time to feel like home here. I even have a favourite canteen already,
which is canteen 2. Compared to the other cans that i have gone to, can 2 has
the best food (Korean, Indonesian, western and Chinese food, fruit and juice
stalls, and the economical rice tastes good) and atmosphere, although not the
best price. My other favourite spot is the Student Activities Centre (provided
that it is not too crowded). Up to this day, i have attended 3 lectures and i
enjoy all of them. It sure feels good to learn something that you have always
been interested in but was not taught in the high school and you just browse
those stuffs on the internet on your own.
And this post would not be complete without my mentioning of
GTD. It stands for Get Together Day, which is a five days orientation
activities organized by the Indonesian students in NTU. As the participants
were like hundreds, we were divided to eight orientation groups, each consisted
of 17 freshmen and a number of seniors who have different roles such as group
leader, welfare, treasurer, photographer, etc. I can’t be more thankful of my
orientation group. The people are so kind and i like them a lot, i like my group
leader a lot. Also much thanks for everyone involved in GTD, thanks for making
it happen.
The real struggle, the exams and assignments have not come
yet. But i have a very good start here and hopefully it may last, bye for now!
